artist/ Wirth

France

Born in 1972, Alexandre Wirth has been a painter since 1998, a self-taught artist who escapes classic institutions and circuits. It uses the graphics of a language intended for the blind to apostrop the sighted, the visual aspect of Braille.

The art of Alexandre Wirth challenges the pleasure one experiences in deciphering his interpretations, the translations of which are sources of intense emotions or constantly renewed questioning. The play of matt and shiny black creates the desired relief.

The recurring choice of large chassis makes it possible to accentuate the black color, color preferred for its depth. Since 2017, he has ventured on different media in order to highlight his unique personality by using braille but also by juxtaposing media of different origins. The use of Plexiglass “boxes” allows the superimposition of impressions and reinforces the message by making it more figurative. Printing on the press freezes the news with its own reading.

An oxymoron by addressing the sighted with a language intended for the blind, the visual of braille, to ask: “OPEN YOUR EYES”
