artist/ Vinça Monadé
France
Vinça Monadé keeps in mind the simplicity of Catalan cities. While working, she often thinks about the obviousness with which Romanesque architecture fits into the landscape, into nature. An engraver and screen printer since the 1980s, with ceramics, she recently found a way to freely elude frontality. Now, she aspires to work truly in situ, in and on the place, and in echo to its architecture. Combining simple volumes in sandstone, Vinça Monadé works on the volume as much as on the material. Both are treated with simplicity. The material must remain pictorial and the artist seeks to trap light in the volume.
