FRANCE
Olivier Desvaux, a French painter born in 1982, lives and works in Normandy.
After completing his first year of applied arts studies at the École Estienne in Paris, he joined the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where he graduated in 2006. An active member of the Taylor Foundation, he was honored with the title of Official Painter of the Navy in 2018 during the 44th Salon de la Marine.
Olivier Desvaux practices oil painting directly from life, drawing inspiration from the principles of classical painting. He explains: “A fascination with nature and light naturally led me to plein air painting. I have traveled the world with my easel, immersing myself in diverse environments. I have depicted sporting events, such as sailing races and polo tournaments, as well as artistic performances like classical music concerts and ballets at the Opéra Garnier. Painting is a living experience for me. I need this intimate exchange with my subject to represent it and convey my feelings with sincerity. My contemplative and optimistic approach to the world aims to share a certain poetry of light.”
Olivier Desvaux’s works are regularly exhibited in galleries and featured in numerous museums across France, reflecting growing recognition for his sensitive and luminous art.
