A child of the North, François Andes studied in Roubaix (France) then in Brussels (Belgium). From the age of seventeen to his twenties, he practiced cartooning, textile arts, screen printing and monumental painting; an apprenticeship that had a profound impact on his multidisciplinary art practice. His drawings sometimes measure up to several meters in height and width. Often they are accompanied by sculptures or performances. Because François Andes thinks big: his imagination, populated by dreamlike landscapes and extraordinary creatures, takes his visitors on a journey through the territories and legends of the entire world.

In 2015, he was an artist in residence in Mons, European Capital of Culture. “Coup de Cœur” artist of the international contemporary drawing fair DDessinParis17, He was recently invited for an artistic residency at the French Institute of Tétouan, at the Villa Saigon in Vietnam, at the Bispo do Rosário Contemporary Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro, and , at the With Artist Foundation in South Korea. In 2019, he created the script and costumes for the show BWV 988: Thirty Possibilities of Transgression, presented at the Teatro Plínio Marcos in Brasília (Brazil). In 2020, his work was presented at the Quynh Gallery in Ho-Chi Minh City in Vietnam and at the Korean Cultural Center in Paris.
Son œuvre est aussi le sujet en 2021 d’expositions monographiques au Musée Oscar Niemeyer de Curitiba ainsi qu’à la galerie Celma Albuquerque à Belo Horizonte au Brésil, à la Bibliothèque Alexis de Tocqueville à Caen et, en 2022, au Centre d’Arts Visuels le Labanque en France. En 2023 à Lasécu Lieu d’art et Artothèque and in 2024 at the Out of The Blue Gallery in Lille.
