DE VITRINE
Saint-Idesbald is the artists’ village on the Belgian coast. Delvaux, Wallet, Recco, Grard… for the precursors, were not mistaken.
De Vitrine is part of this individualism specific to the artists of Saint-Idesbald. Indeed, the village does not represent a homogeneous center of artists, nor even a recognizable movement, but a host of ultra-sensitive and ultra-lucid people who create in the sweet and suave joy of a seaside with perfumes waffles and ligustrum, but above all in the nostalgic wanderings and the ever-distant horizons of the North Sea. De Vitrine explodes with these colors and atmospheres of Fancy Fair and Luna Park but also with palaver trees and rhythmic chants.
The artists presented there always have a link with the living, physical generosity, and the indomitable exacerbation of the African continent. There we meet painters, sculptors and artisans of the same fiber: anchored and rooted here and there, like itinerant spirits who settle there for the duration of an exhibition.
