Contemporary Art Fair
13-16 March at Lille Grand Palais
Contemporary art galleries
A contemporary art gallery is an exhibition space specifically designed to showcase works of art and present them to its visitors. The art gallery selects the artists it wishes to exhibit and provides them not only with a space but also with special support to make their work known. It is also a place to meet with collectors in order to provide them with all the information they need to choose the works they wish to acquire.
As well as art galleries, the Lille Art Fair is also a privileged exhibition place for contemporary artists' works and a unique meeting place for collectors, buyers and art lovers
What is contemporary art?
Contemporary art refers to all works of art created since 1945 to the present day. The works of contemporary art include all the works created during this period, regardless of their style, discipline or artistic movement. We can therefore find sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, performances, installations, videos…
Beyond the chronological criterion, the contemporary artists are also characterized by their will to break with the canons of the classic and figurative art. Alongside them, the forms of art are diversifying and sometimes even leave the institutions as in the case of Street-Art, performative art or conceptual art. New forms are also created with the new technologies like video art or digital art.
Lille Art Up! The contemporary art event
The Lille Art Up! contemporary art fair is a real event for art galleries that has become part of the national agenda. Sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, video, the art fair brings together each year disciplines and trends and offers a deliberately eclectic range.
Contemporary art: the exhibitors from Lille
The Lille contemporary art fair welcomes many local exhibitors, from Lille and the Hauts-de-France region, both galleries and cultural and artistic structures that come to feed the program and highlight the regional art scene.
