Rik van Veen (1989) is a designer and artist based in Rotterdam. After an initial education in mechanical engineering, he graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2014 as a product designer. In his studio, Rik designs furniture and lighting through experimental processes using reclaimed materials and self-built machines.
Before founding his own studio, Rik made a significant contribution to another leading design practice. Since establishing himself under his own name, he has become a striking and influential figure. His designs are technically innovative, forward-thinking, and result in distinctive, one-of-a-kind objects. His work has recently received considerable attention from galleries and collectors, with features in Quote Design Special, Harper’s Bazaar, and Architectural Digest.
In 2025, Rik van Veen was represented by the major Dutch gallery Rademakers. His work The Leopard Bench had already been selected in 2024 as one of the top ten designs worldwide.
