artist/ RANCELOT

France

Christiane RANCELOT always had a particular interest in people and movement. Her work reflects what resonates with her emotions. Now she lives between Bordeaux and Florida.
Originally from North of France, she practiced drawing at a very young age, surrounded by sculpture from her paternal grandfather.
As an adult, she enriched her knowledge in the artistic field at the Beaux-Arts and in contact with the associative and artistic circles of Lille. After many years of drawing living models, then a passage through abstraction in the 80s, she returned to figurative art with a work on the human being, on the passage of time and on the place of man through the centuries and technological progress.

Today, the photographic snapshot, which allows her to illustrate the ephemeral, is her new stimulus, her starting point for creation. Christiane RANCELOT works from photographs that she often takes in the heat of the moment: a beautiful marble sculpture, a child playing, a passer-by making a phone call, the important thing being the ignorance of the subject in relation to capture an image. The characters are present but also on the move.
Her interpretations of water have so many compositions seen through the filter of crazy and changing reflections of transparencies that destroy the image and make it abstract. These fleeting water-light interactions force the eye and the mind to constantly question abstraction and figuration. The subject is only a pretext, the painter only paints the light. Her work awakes in us memories from childhood, well-being, and pleasure.
Christiane Rancelot also exhibits at Sylvie PLATINI’s in Annecy and LYON as well as in the United States
