Noor Geurts graduated in 1990 from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Her quest in painting led her to use bright color schemes and achieve transparency. Noor grew up in river country, polders, and dune landscapes. Her work is tender and sensitive but also radiates robustness, where the ever-changing light in the openness and vastness of her immediate surroundings plays a determining role.
Geurts’ work focuses on organic forms in landscape environments. Her paintings straddle the border between figuration and abstraction. She aims to depict the dynamic stillness in serene environments where time seems to stand still, employing a seemingly natural process that includes ink, egg tempera, oil, and graffiti paint.
Her fascination lies in experimenting with different types of paint and their application to the canvas, constantly creating new images.
Noor Geurts exhibits her work both at home and abroad. Exhibitions between 2020 and 2024 include: KunstRai Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Hilton Hotel Antwerp and Hilton Hotel Düsseldorf, Flower Art Museum, Galerie SousTerre, Gallery Rozendaal, AAF Brussels and AAF Amsterdam and Triënnale Cobra Museum.
