France
Miss Tic is a French artist born in 1956. She studied a variety of media, including model making and photoengraving, before finally adopting spray paint and stencilling in 1985.
A pioneer in her approach of taking over the walls of the city of Paris to display the chronicles of her existence and her states of mind, she is also one of the first French urban artists to be institutionalised.
With her poetic universe, she writes epigrams on the walls, short, incisive sentences, using puns and wordplay to convey a direct, synthetic message.
Attached to these hard-hitting slogans are usually portraits of women, sometimes fatal and seductive, but also warriors and fighters.
As a feminist artist, she plays on the stereotypes attributed to women in order to question their condition and denounce male domination.
Somewhere between carefree and provocative, Miss Tic’s artworks appeal to everyone, and demonstrate a great deal of freedom, from the creative process to the interpretation.
