Born on 3 February 1995 in Besançon, Bryan Magnin-Feysot lives and works in Saint-Vit, in the Doubs region of eastern France. He grew up in his father’s studio, a charcoal and graphite draughtsman, and first trained in classical drawing, from which he keeps a rigorous line and a feel for light. He later found greater freedom in oil painting. Drawing on Caravaggesque chiaroscuro, he develops a practice at the crossroads of realism and surrealism, in which the portrait dissolves under dense, organic matter. Free of militant message or imposed narrative, his canvases seek a direct aesthetic experience, between figuration and lyrical abstraction. His work is represented by Galerie Graal, among others.
