Guy Lioult, from Normandy, is an animal sculptor.
He enjoys dissecting forms, exposing the complexity of the skeleton beneath the obviousness of the skin, revealing the inner reliefs, the interplay of planes, and translating the fullness and wrinkles of the body architecture of each creature.
Guy Lioult prefers to observe and represent both wild and familiar animals. His bronze bestiary is rich in tapir, marabou, serpentaire and suricate, souvenirs of his stay in French Guiana and sketches borrowed from the Jardin des Plantes.
