Léo GALAMEZ was born in Pas-de-Calais in 1979. He lives and works in Lille. A lover of painting from an early age, he hesitated to pursue a career in the fine arts, opting instead to study medicine. It was during his residency that he picked up his brushes again, never to let them go.
His paintings, often large-scale, are striking in their intensity of color and harmony of form. He found his inspiration in the observation of living things, which resonates with his childhood surrounded by the flora and fauna of the Audomarois marshes, and his medical studies, particularly histology (the study of tissue).
Through this flowering of simple yet mysterious and exciting forms, and colors that bear witness to a subtle aesthetic quest, the artist seeks “to astonish himself and share his pleasure in painting”.
