Born in Méricourt in the Yvelines in 1941, Michel Gemignani lives and works in the Loir-et-Cher. He graduated in Applied Arts in 1959 and from the Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1966. In the same year, he received the prestigious Prix de Rome. In 1971, he became a professor at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, and was workshop director from 1993 until the end of his career in 2006. The painter was also Honorary President of the Salon Réalités Nouvelles
He was represented for nearly 25 years by the Ariel Gallery in Paris, until the death of the gallery owner, Jean Pollak.
