artist/ FX Combes

Lille art up!

In the work of FX Combes, the image is never a faithful mirror. It is already manipulated, folded, and altered by gestures that attempt to save it while exposing its fragility.
Grids, screens, and erased surfaces run through his work as instruments of a servitude that has become habitual, filtering reality until its origin dissolves into repetition.
Confronting the contemporary image, prolific, smooth, overexposed. FX challenges the illusion of neutrality it claims.
In his paintings, this false neutrality fractures: the weave tears, forms dissolve, and surfaces no longer protect.
By working with images that are already corrupted, the artist reveals the quiet violence that assigns them to interchangeability and flow.
Yet from this degradation emerges a paradoxical energy: a return of the sensible, a fragile breath that refuses obedience.
His images do not seek truth, but an exit, from their own ruins.
