FRANCE

Fernand Kayser is an artist from Mulhouse and a member of the Schlager collective, a trio of artists that includes Yrak and Sven. Their studio is located in the heart of the industrial wasteland of La Mer Rouge in Mulhouse.
Fernand has been drawing since childhood, almost as an uncontrollable habit. His drawings emerge and take shape through a kind of automatic writing. Compulsively, he fills notebook after notebook, creating a world filled with whimsical objects, punk imagery, unconscious reveries, and more tangible elements drawn from his daily life.
Fernand Kayser explores a universe where everything merges and intertwines into a unified whole—unique and boundless, where foregrounds and backgrounds blur together. Each element serves as its own narrative source, opening a door to a memory, a story, or a dream.
Inspired by punk culture and bad painting, he draws his creative influences from the worlds of music, cinema, and painting, elevating subcultures to the level of fine art. He offers a liberated form of painting, bursting forth without sketches, embodying a “Lost Control” spirit.
