Since his beginnings, Jean-Christophe Estrampes has developed a formal and pictorial language focused on the search for harmonies resulting from a confrontation between the precision of the gesture and the strength of the unexpected.

His works, characterized by abstract compositions, create visual harmonies resulting from a balance between shapes and colors, between precision and imprecision. His approach aims to rethink pictorial narrative not around a specific subject but rather around the creative force that results from randomness.

Largely inspired by American Action Painting and the Gutai movement, Jean-Christophe Estrampes’ works attempt to systematize and reorder the creative freedom of abstraction.

Compositions that are both drawn and non-drawn: they result as much from the brush that applies the color to the sheet as from the movement given by the hand to the sheet to free the paint from its contained forms (the dot or the dot).

The Dot Therapy series seeks to create a rhythm, a dynamic of movement. This new series offers as many scores whose visual dynamics are totally random since they are the result of a set of drips with imprecise lines.

Grouped or scattered on the sheet or on canvas, the dots or polka dots draw chromic variations that define more or less distinct ensembles from each other in order to accentuate the overall dynamic.

The drips then recreate the link between the forms to randomly constitute series of groups whose compositions are only allowed when they are judged by the artist to be harmonious and balanced.
