artist/ ENKI BILAL
FRANCO-SERBE
Enki Bilal was born in Yugoslavia in 1951. His childhood in Belgrade under the reign of Tito will be decisive for the graphic tone and geopolitical themes that he will develop during his collaborations (with Pierre Christin in particular), or later as a solo artist.
The Nikopol Trilogy, considered a reference work, mixes, not without humor, the absurdity of Man’s obsessions with power and the divinities that he could not help but create for himself.
Enki Bilal is also the author of three films, the last of which, Immortel Ad Vitam, is a free “deconstruction” of The Nikopol Trilogy. Froid Equateur was voted best book of the year 1993 by Lire magazine.
