artist/ Nicolas Dubreuille

France

Nicolas Dubreuille develops his work in several media: sculpture, photography, drawing and painting.

His pictorial works and three-dimensional creations summon the precision of arrangement and balance. With each piece, each work, the boundaries between painting, sculpture and photography seem to become increasingly permeable.
The art of Nicolas Dubreuille, who has made color and geometry his best allies, is driven by a desire for research and renewal. His paintings, with their intense plastic force, yield to no system and resonate with a highly contemporary spirit, both pop and minimal. His way of opening doors between these different paths, between abstraction and figuration, concept and expression, is synonymous with exceptional creative art.

He has subjected his artistic practice to the language of geometry, to which he has infused a playful spirit, excluding the austerity often associated with this art form. In his paintings, color plays a central role. He explores its virtues in multitude and diversity. The artist is the author of a series of paintings based on the use of colored planes, executed on canvas or paper, to give more substance to the work. The skilfully orchestrated distribution of these colored planes across the two dimensions of the canvas is based on a combination of horizontal, vertical and diagonal rhythms.
