Françoise de Felice, of Italian descent through her father and French through her mother, was born in Paris, where she spent the first 20 years of her life. As a child, she was introduced to graphic art by her grandmother, who had attended an advertising workshop during the era of the Chat Noir, adjacent to Fernand Léger’s studio. Alongside her studies at the Sorbonne, she attended the Beaux-Arts as an auditing student. Françoise’s initial approach to art involved the essential stage of Impressionism, which she explored in all its forms until 1982.

She needed to forge her own identity, break away from well-trodden paths, and create her own signature. Inspired by the splendors of Sicilian Baroque and the island’s radiant light, she began to play with almost liquid blending techniques paired with fine yet precise lines. Her style—her own style—was born from a fusion of chance and determination. She makes her painting an introspective journey, a form of self-analysis.
