Born in Uccle (Brussels) in 1964, Tiline Courcelles, the youngest of eight children, grew up in an artistic family and school environment. After studying interior architecture at St Luc (Brussels), she has worked in the fashion industry for 25 years. Attracted to painting at the dawn of the new millennium, she completed her artistic training by taking drawing classes at the Académie d’Uccle.
Unconcerned with fashion, Tiline Courcelles approaches painting spontaneously, throwing all her emotions into her work. It’s not simply a question of strokes of colour, drips, splashes or other brushstrokes, but of a strong and sincere commitment to conveying her feelings of the moment. Each canvas becomes an eternal restart, an instinctive challenge to the ability to create without prior thought or trial.
Her abstract paintings are creations in search of a privileged alliance between matter, form and light, populated by intense vibrations between colours. Her colourful universe gives off moods and rhythms that are full of imagination and freedom. This deeply personal approach leaves viewers free to choose their own interpretation of abstract images, which can then become signs for them…
