The creation of images through analogue film and photography serves as inspiration for my work, evoking the dark room or a cinematic experience where subjects emerge from the silver screen. The filmic quality is emphasized by scale and light depiction. Using tools crafted from steel wool, I intricately scratch the image, achieving desired shading gradations. This process produces minuscule lines in charcoal, offering a soft or luminous effect. The underlying grid, composed of tiny notched lines, interacts with scratched areas, creating friction accentuated by pigment layers. This foundation lends texture, akin to a canvas painting, adding depth to the overall visual experience.
