Ulricke Bolenz is a German-born artist, born in 1958, known for her innovative explorations in the fields of installation, painting, and sculpture. Her work questions the relationship between space, matter, and human emotion, while addressing themes such as memory, sensory perception, and the interaction between the body and its environment.
A graduate of Fine Arts, Ulricke Bolenz first trained in academic institutions before developing a practice deeply influenced by her personal experiences. Her work is characterized by a poetic and sensory exploration, where each piece seems to invite a deeper exploration of reality. Bolenz often combines various materials and techniques to create immersive works that transform the exhibition space into a living, interactive environment. She is particularly interested in how materials, whether raw or transparent, can reveal hidden or inaccessible dimensions of our daily lives.
Her works have been presented in prestigious institutions such as the Kunsthalle Hamburg, the Museum of Contemporary Art Munich, and the Beyeler Foundation in Switzerland. She has also participated in artistic residencies and has been invited to major events such as the Venice Biennale and the Lyon Biennale.
