Olivier Bertrand was born in 1975 in Marseille, to a French father and Chinese mother. From an early age, he was fascinated by drawing and visual arts, especially origami. He was captivated by the transformation of a simple piece of paper into intricate, lively forms through skillful folding.

After studying economics and spending around fifteen years in digital marketing, a twist of fate allowed him to return to his first passion. During a convalescence period which kept him home for several months, he started creating a gorilla out of cardboard as a playful project because he had some spare boxes in his garage. Little did he know, this cardboard gorilla would be displayed and awarded at the Grand Palais in Paris during the 2019 Salon des Artistes Français, marking the launch of his career as a sculptor.

Today, his sculptures and art transcend boundaries, resonating with people from various cultures and backgrounds.
