For this edition, the gallery will present two new series never before shown in Lille: “de la terre recluse” and “incandescences”.
Vincent Descotils was born in 1965. A photographer, visual artist, set designer and draughtsman, he lives and works in Brittany.
Vincent Descotils’ photography is perhaps a matter of belief, within a game of discovery and escape.
Vincent Descotils manipulates, violently kneads and caresses his images, half-emerging from sleep. His textural effects are a skin, sometimes rough, sometimes soft, the surface and sap of a body (of a gesture) that articulates itself according to the meanders of our memories. Trouble is indeed the material of his photographs, as much in his subjects, the elaboration of impalpable visions, meditative, nostalgic, but always poetic and mysterious, as in their treatment.
