François-Régis Lemonnier’s paintings explore man and his environment.
Using in his works the raw material, sand, earth of sienna, oxidized zinc sheet, gold or lead, but also the flattens of oil and acrylic paint, the artist invents for man a space made of points, pure lines and geometric shapes, in which it will have to find its place.
His practice is above all a look at the human, each small figure can represent in the painter’s imagination a symbol, cultural, geographical, mythological, historical. Whether he places man in the marine universe of his Malouine origins or in a mountainous landscape, the painter’s reflection tends towards the universality of the place of man in his environment.
