artist/ Jean Murgue

France

Born in 1960, lives and works in Chennevières-lès-Louvres (Val d’Oise). He graduated from the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris and the Higher School of Plastic Expression in Tourcoing .

In parallel with his artistic activity, he learns welding through his job as a horticultural greenhouse fitter and deals with the marketing of greenhouse models, which leads him to frequent the world of plants in their enclosed, transparent spaces.

Jean Murgue exhibited in various Parisian galleries : gallery Bruno Delarue, gallery Autour du Monde, gallery Prodromus, gallery Peinture Fraîche in Paris, and currently at the gallery La boucherie in Saint-Briac and the gallery le Rat Mort in Ostend.

His approach is linked to his environment which leads him to reflect on the city and its imbrication in nature with a special presence for trees in his works. In his series of drawings in black ink, man is in harmony with nature in landscapes filled with wild and mysterious poetry.

Each drawing requires a delicate treatment with water and ink on the paper. He strives to clarify the forms in the humid chaos where a profusion of shadows emerges in an imaginary landscape.

A plastic adventure linked to the attentive observation of nature.
