Dario Pilato’s artistic approach is affirmed in a spirit of recovery (upcycling) by giving new life to toys known to all and which were part of our childhood, directly or indirectly.
For this first collection he decided to use Kinder Surprises from Ferrero. But not just any figurines. The artist mainly used vintage characters from the 80s-90s and early 2000s called “Monoblock”.
His works are also part of the PopArt movement because they are integrally linked to the spirit of an era and directly echo our capitalist society of overconsumption.
The viewer is plunged back into the world of childhood almost in a hypnotic way. Everyone had a Kinder surprise in their hands. We all shook the little egg. Everyone was waiting for the surprise. Through the work, all these emotions resurface with more or less intensity, with more or less joy, but never with indifference.
