artist/ Hervé Di Rosa

France

Hervé Di Rosa is a renowned contemporary artist born in Sète, France in 1959. Along with François Boisrond, Rémi Blanchard, and Robert Combas, he was one of the leading figures of the French “Figuration Libre” movement, a revival of painting in the 1980s. This movement often drew inspiration from comics, rock music, and graffiti, and was characterized by a colorful and expressive style.

He has developed a narrative universe populated by characters; his works are vibrant and graphic. He is the author of numerous art books and publications.

A proponent of the concept of “Modest Art,” he founded the International Museum of Modest Arts (MIAM) in Sète in 2000, where he exhibits numerous artists from around the world and creates exhibitions that challenge the boundaries of contemporary art.

Since 1981, his work has been the subject of more than 200 solo exhibitions and is held in major public and private collections in Europe, America, and Asia. In 2024, the Centre Pompidou in Paris dedicated an exhibition to him.
