Hayri Şengün is an artist whose practice primarily focuses on sculpture, alongside engraving, ceramics, and painting. His work is grounded in a direct and physical relationship with materials, considering thinking as a process that unfolds through making and touch. His works arise from an ongoing dialogue between form and process, often shaped by controlled accidents.
He completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in the Department of Fine Arts at Bilkent University, where his master’s thesis and exhibition examined ocularcentrism and emphasized tactility in artistic experience.
Based in Ankara, Hayri Şengün continues his practice in his personal studio. He has taught art history, drawing, and anatomy, and currently teaches a foundational design course in the Department of Visual Communication Design at TED University.
He will present his first solo exhibition in France at Alo Galerie in June 2026.
