Violaine Carrère is a studio photographer specializing in still life. Her expertise in luxury goods and cosmetics has led her to develop a keen eye for materials and their interaction with light. In 2020, she trained in stained glass with a master glassmaker. More than just a craft, this practice has become a natural extension of her photographic work. It is a new exploration of light filtered through colored surfaces, similar to the gelatins she manipulates in her studio.

Inspired by still life in advertising photography, Violaine has ultimately developed a complete artistic universe. It features a repertoire of materials familiar to this field: minerals, flowers, ice, gel, water, bubbles, mirrors, prisms, watery textures,
powdery textures… She constantly explores these elements and transforms them into micro-environments. Between printing and setting, she plays with her fragments of glass and Plexiglas, assembling and photographing small ephemeral sculptures. Once her works are finished, she moves them out of the studio and confronts them with the natural elements that inspired her. Violaine photographs glass and on glass, defiantly extending the cycle of image transformation to infinity.
