France
French visual artist and performer, Sébastien Layral D’Alessandro lives and works in Châtel-Guyon. Active since 1987, he has developed a practice combining figurative painting and participatory performance. The author of more than 1,300 works, 110 exhibitions, and 37 performances, he examines the relationships between art, philosophy, ethics, and collective engagement. His approach closely intertwines life and art. Informed by philosophy (Camus, Nietzsche), humanitarian work, and martial arts, it functions as a tool for critical inquiry into the political, social, and ecological foundations of our time. Through portraits and performative dispositifs, he explores freedom, responsibility, and the possibility of dialogue between reason, emotion, and sensation. By integrating public participation, his work transforms the artistic act into a collective experience, where the individual and the common confront and respond to one another. Presented in Paris, Rome, Istanbul, and Hong Kong, his work places the intimate and the political in tension, inviting each viewer to rethink how they see, listen, and act. Each project becomes a proposition addressed to the viewer:
