artist/ CANTELE
France
Born in 1966 in Saône-et-Loire, Cécile Cantele is not a figurative painter like so many others.
At the age of 10, she was already attending the drawing school in Chalon-sur-Saône. Her drawings focused on wild animals, which would later become her specialty when she designed for haute couture and scarves, such as Hermès, Céline, and Scherrer.
After studying art in Paris, Cécile embarked on a journey (USA, UK, Germany, etc.) to absorb new influences.
She shares her unique sensibility through her work creating murals and trompe-l’œil paintings for private clients and businesses.
Sensitive to the preservation of wild animals since her earliest childhood, and a member of the WWF since the age of 12, her favorite books even then were those of Gerald Durrell, the naturalist with whom she corresponded for several years.
She was active for nine years in an animal protection association.
Realistic paintings depicting children and wild animals in ruined cities, where only graffiti, a modern-day form of cave art, reminds us that humankind has left its mark on the environment.
