artist/ Laurent Bouro

France

Laurent Bouro develops a unique pictorial practice in which the wooden support plays a fundamental role. He works mainly with oil paint applied directly onto wood, treated as a living material. Through a controlled technical process, he deliberately causes the oil paint to crack, creating tension between surface and medium.
These cracks become a central aesthetic element, producing vibrant and organic surfaces. Cracking is not accidental but fully integrated into the creative process. Each artwork is unique, shaped by time, material stress, and transformation. Through this approach, Laurent Bouro explores the relationship between painting, material, and alteration.
