He’s an internationally renowned French stencil artist and a pioneer of street art in France.

His first stencils in the streets of Tours date back from 1982. Since then, he has visited countless cities around the world, pasting and spray-painting portraits of iconic figures or anonymous people of all backgrounds and ages. He even pasted his now legendary “Sitting kid” on the Great Wall of China.

The characteristic of his portraits often represented at scale 1 is the almost exclusive use of black and white, enhanced with a small red arrow, which is the artist’s trademark.

Passionate of music and musician himself, Jef Aerosol draws much of his inspiration from the art scene of the 60s-70s, while also representing a great deal of unknown people. Children for example are recurring protagonists in his work.

His works have been shown in many exhibitions, festivals, art fairs, auctions and international events; and he is represented by several galleries in France and abroad.

Poetical rather than political, Jef Aerosol’s work is a call for humanism. The eyes of his protagonists convey a wide range of universal emotions. All his works speaks about himself, his life and culture but, because of their universal dimension, they also say something about you, us, life and men …
