Andr\u00e9 Derain (1880-1954) was a painter, sculptor, and co-founder of Fauvism. Born in Chatou, France, he studied at the Acad\u00e9mie Julian and met Maurice de Vlaminck and Henri Matisse, with whom he developed the Fauvist movement, characterized by the use of pure and vibrant colors.<\/p>\n

His works, such as “La Danse” and his landscapes of Collioure, embody this period of bold chromatic experimentation. Later, Derain moved away from Fauvism to adopt a more classical style, influenced by ancient art and the old masters.<\/p>\n
