Born in 1975, Valem discovered sculpture as a model during her studies. After graduating in engineering in 1999, she went on to become a teacher-researcher, but has remained faithful to sculpture, giving it priority for the last ten years. Valem works with superimposed pellets and is fascinated by modelling. Finishes vary according to the subjects studied. In 2016, she chose to be represented and supported primarily by Galerie B\u00e9n\u00e9dicte Giniaux in Bergerac, Dordogne.
\nValem searches for postures and attitudes that she interprets in the fidelity of each species. Her work is committed, lively, purposeful and highly expressive. Her memories of Senegal, presented in the \u201cTeranga\u201d collection, far from being \u201cethnic\u201d art, are an ode to the generosity and luminous beauty of the people she met there: a tribute to women and children’s view of the world. Deeply committed to social-ecological issues, the representation of the living in her artistic expression has taken on a more assertive meaning.
