An experienced Parisian artist brimming with energy, Jean-Charles Ya\u00efch is a true jack-of-all-trades. Her work is an immense tribute to her primary source of inspiration: the female body, its grace, its poetry, its curves. Skilled in all techniques, it was Kirigami \u2013 the Japanese name for the art of paper cutting \u2013 which touched us instantly with its delicacy and originality.<\/p>\n
Oil painting, drawing, collage, cutting or even sculpture: Jean-Charles’ many techniques transcribe his insatiable desire to create, experiment and have fun! But in recent years, it is the technique of Kirigami that he has perfected to achieve perfect mastery today. To flourish in this know-how, Jean-Charles uses models who pose for several hours. In front of them, while the artists generally sketch with pencil or charcoal, Jean-Charles draws his cutter and begins to slice the large sheets of paper raw. No need to draw a line for our expert, he draws by splitting the paper freehand, revealing a woman’s body, subtle, delicate, alive. After the sessions, comes the moment of selection: \u201cI keep\/I don\u2019t keep\u201d. The artist pays great attention to this demanding process, retaining only the best sketches. Then, he finally devotes himself to adding volume with his delicate fingers, creating a more or less accentuated relief, which he sometimes places on a colored background, more often on a white background. And thus appears the accomplished work, graceful and moving.<\/p>\n
For his latest series, the artist uses colored papers instead of white.
