Born in Rouen in 1995, Chlo\u00e9 Kelly Miller lives and works in Paris. Her practice began in 2018, alongside her studies in psychology, and is oriented towards psychoanalysis. Her work is rooted in often automatic mechanisms that encourage the liberation and exploration of the unconscious.<\/p>\n
Photographs, acrylics, graffiti, inks, oil pastels and drawings make up the different facets of the artist’s work. The portrait occupies a predominant place, and pursues through a spontaneous and eruptive work the revelation shared through the image, or the sensations latent in the experience of self and otherness.<\/p>\n
From pop culture icons to incomplete or bruised personal narratives, the artist grapples with questions of identity and representation by re-evaluating, through interaction with the subject, the very mode of appearance of his being.<\/p>\n
In many cases, the space of the canvas is envisaged as a support for the staging of the body and the application of colour, which contribute to a sublimation of affects. The diversity of media favours the expression of a spontaneous, impulsive gesture, designed to question gesture to the detriment of that which governs the human being: language.<\/p>\n
Attentive to the personal trajectories of artists such as Dali, Basquiat, Ernest Pignon-Ernest, Keith Haring, Patti Smith and Mapplethorpe, Chlo\u00e9 Kelly Miller revisits an artistic pantheon whose technique she overpowers and whose heritage she constantly reinterprets.<\/p>\n
Neo-expressionism is one of the most enriching artistic movements for the artist. Archaism challenges and questions the most primal, the most profound. It is in the wake of these artists that Chlo\u00e9 Kelly Miller in turn attempts to capture the elusive, an obscure and nebulous reality, a truth of her own and personal.<\/p>\n
Graduating as a Clinical Psychologist in 2019, Chlo\u00e9 Kelly Miller is continuing her studies in Research with a view to preparing a thesis until June 2020. At the same time, the artist continues to invest in her body of work by entering new galleries on an international scale, taking part in solo and group exhibitions, and collaborating on various projects with designers, restorers, sculptors and textile creators.<\/p>\n
