Aleksandar Bezinovic was born on 16 May 1975 in Split, Croatia. In 1993, he completed the Secondary School for Applied Arts and Design, specializing in graphic design. He obtained his BA in painting at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts in 1998 in the class of professor Zlatko Keser.
\nIn the period 1998\u20132006, he worked at the Croatian Conservation Institute in Zagreb as an associate on the Wooden polychrome sculpture department. From 2007 he worked as a freelance scenic artist\/painter in theatre and head painter in the film industry.
\n He started exhibiting his work in 1997 and from then he continuously works in his studio and exhibits in Croatia and abroad.
\nHe lives and works in Zagreb.<\/p>\n
Monochromatic abstract paintings, with dominant black curving forms, hold a key place within the development of the artist’s recent\u00a0 body of work.\u00a0
\nHis influences range widely from the history of architecture, calligraphy, ancient Greek vase painting, Islamic pattern design to geometric modernism and typographic design.
\nConceptually his abstract designs start from the circle as the basic unit from which the composition continues to unfold.
\nThe placing of circles into the set format and their connections to form new as well as recurring forms reminds one of a process of decoding some unfamiliar and magical system, of opening and closing of new spaces within the painting.<\/p>\n
