He’s an internationally renowned French stencil artist and a pioneer of street art in France. <\/p>\n
His first stencils in the streets of Tours date back from 1982. Since then, he has visited countless cities around the world, pasting and spray-painting portraits of iconic figures or anonymous people of all backgrounds and ages. He even pasted his now legendary \u201cSitting kid\u201d on the Great Wall of China. <\/p>\n
The characteristic of his portraits often represented at scale 1 is the almost exclusive use of black and white, enhanced with a small red arrow, which is the artist\u2019s trademark. <\/p>\n
Passionate of music and musician himself, Jef Aerosol draws much of his inspiration from the art scene of the 60s-70s, while also representing a great deal of unknown people. Children for example are recurring protagonists in his work. <\/p>\n
His works have been shown in many exhibitions, festivals, art fairs, auctions and international events; and he is represented by several galleries in France and abroad. <\/p>\n
Poetical rather than political, Jef Aerosol\u2019s work is a call for humanism. The eyes of his protagonists convey a wide range of universal emotions.
