Born in Soissons in 1970, Jean-Marc Brunet discovered his artistic vocation at a young age and began exhibiting his work as a teenager. Moving to Paris in the 1990s, he frequented various artists’ studios and drew inspiration from post-war abstraction.<\/p>\n
His numerous travels, particularly to the Maghreb and Senegal, allowed him to meet his friend, the artist Ousseynou Saar. In 1995, two of his paintings were included in the Mus\u00e9e d’Art Moderne de Nice. That same year, he exhibited alongside Jean Bazaine.<\/p>\n
Residing in the Aisne region since 1996, he explores several themes, such as “R\u00e9servoir,” which explores abstract geometry through material. The series “Territoire” (Territory) allowed the artist to create a fresco in Seville on behalf of the European Community. “Les Passeurs” (The Passers) marks the arrival of drawing in his work. Finally, “Les Guerriers” and “Citadelles” complete this cycle of themes explored in the early 2000s.<\/p>\n
His work engages with poetry and music, leading to collaborations with Khalil Chahine, Claude Nougaro, Aldo Romano, Pierre Delano\u00eb, and Charles Aznavour.<\/p>\n
Through his works, Jean-Marc Brunet pays tribute to his poet friends: Jean Orizet, Michel Butor, Jean-Marc Natel, Bernard No\u00ebl, Jean-Clarence Lambert, and others. These encounters have given rise to numerous works, including artist’s books and book objects.<\/p>\n
Influenced by nature, Jean-Marc Brunet transforms materials into forms, shapes into spaces, words into colors, and music into canvases.
